About LotsaLocks®

Thinning hair can occur at any age but is most common in menopause. About two-thirds of midlife women note thinning and brittle hair to some degree.

This heartbreaking side effect of menopause is not talked about by almost half of women who experience it – a bit like menopause itself – and can lead to psychological distress.

Not surprisingly, the cause of this is hormonal. Estrogen and progesterone keep the hair in the growing phase. When levels of these hormones decline during menopause, hair can become brittle, and hair thinning becomes more pronounced.

LotsaLocks® contains keraGEN-IV®, a pure keratin protein that has been shown in scientific studies to support hair maintenance and density. It is rich in cysteine, which is essential for the production of glutathione, the master antioxidant that supports shiny, healthy-looking hair.

keraGEN-IV® is a pure keratin protein in a digestible and functional form that is ethically sourced from the wool of sheep raised in New Zealand.

LotsaLocks® also contains Biotin, one of the B complex vitamins that is well known for supporting healthy hair.

Presented in vege capsules. Suitable for vegetarians, non-GMO, gluten free.

What type of hair thinning is LotsaLocks® best suited to?

We designed LotsaLocks® to support hormonally driven hair thinning, especially the kind that can show up during peri-menopause and post-menopause.

This can look like:

  • More shedding than usual

  • A widening part line

  • Overall thinning through the top/front of the scalp

  • Hair that feels finer, weaker, or more “see-through” than it used to

It supports scalp follicles that may be more vulnerable during hormonal shifts, helping hair feel more secure.

How long does it take to see results with LotsaLocks®? What should I look for first?

Hair grows in cycles of active growth, resting and shedding which can shorten or lengthen during menopause.

So most people notice changes gradually, not overnight. A common first sign is longer, stronger nails.
After that, you may start to notice fewer hairs in your brush. And over time you might see your part line look less wide.

Then people report  skin looks more dewy and radiant with consistent use.

Because everyone’s different, there’s no one set timeline. We’ve designed each bottle to last 90 days, as this is a practical timeframe that tends to work well for many people.

Will LotsaLocks®cause unwanted facial hair (whiskers)?

Unwanted facial hair is not an expected outcome of taking LotsaLocks®.
LotsaLocks® is designed to support hair on your scalp by helping hair and follicle health that can become more fragile during peri and post-menopause, rather than encouraging whiskers or growth in unwanted places.

Does LotsaLocks® work for baldness?

LotsaLocks® works where the follicle is still producing hair but the anchoring has loosened so hair that grows falls out. LotsaLocks® supports hair growth and thickness by working on supporting the follicle. It doesn’t work where the hair follicle has died as in male pattern baldness.

Post-menopause

This is the time when menstruation is well and truly over, the ovaries have stopped producing high levels of sex hormones and for many ladies, perimenopause symptoms subside.

Estrogen has protective qualities and the diminished levels mean organs such as your brain, heart and bones become more vulnerable. It’s also a key lubricant so your lips may become drier, your joints less supple and your vagina might be drier. In addition, your thyroid, digestion, insulin, cortisol and weight may alter.

At this juncture, a woman might experience an increase in the signs of reduced estrogen but she should have a decrease of perimenopause symptoms. That said, some women will experience symptoms like hot flushes for years or even the rest of their lives.

Perimenopause

Peri = ‘near’

Most females begin to experience the symptoms of perimenopause in their mid-forties. Your progesterone levels decline from your mid-30s but it’s generally from around 40 that the rest of your sex hormones begin to follow suit.

Perimenopause is a different experience for every woman and some women may barely notice it. The first indicators are usually changes to the monthly cycle. This means that for some ladies, this can be accompanied by things like sore breasts, mood swings, weight gain around the belly, and fatigue as time goes on.

For those with symptoms it can be a challenging time physically, mentally and emotionally.

Importantly, perimenopause lasts – on average – four to 10 years. The transition is usually a gradual process and many women enter perimenopause without realising.
