Why Choose MenoMe 40+ and 55+?

MenoMe® 40+ and 55+

Let’s take a closer look at MenoMe 40+ and 55+.

When it comes to choices – whether that be for food, clothing, fragrance, skincare – there’s no shortage of options. And the same is true for solutions promising to help us through perimenopause and beyond.

And therein lies the challenge:

  • How do we know which menopause product to choose?
  • What will be best for us?

We understand the confusion. Heck, we’ve been there too!

So stick with me and I’ll walk you through the benefits of 40+ and 55+. In addition, I’ll show you how they measure up in the laboratory.

But first, let me begin by sharing something we hear often at MenoMe. “I’ve tried everything and nothing works.”

If that sounds familiar let me ask you if you used the product as directed? And most importantly, did you give it time to work?

The secret sauce of 40+ and 55+

Give a Product 3 months to get up to speed

As a rule, we need to give a product about three months to really get up to speed. For some people, results happen faster but you could be throwing the baby out with the bathwater if you give up in the early stages.

Similarly, if you begin to experience some of the signs again stick with it – it may just be your hormones having a surge and it will dissipate.

There is no one size fits all and what works for one woman may not work for another. With that said, some solutions are safer and have more scientific studies behind them than others. It’s why we stand behind 40+ and 55+. The science has spoken.

It’s vital to choose wisely. A product that’s been through scientific trials where evidence of its efficacy, side effects and safety profile have been studied. Using it as directed for at least 12 weeks is also important.

Background issues that exacerbate hormone imbalances

As women, we can experience some pretty strong hormonal swings and shifts from puberty through to post-menopause. As a result, many of the signs and conditions we navigate stem from hormone imbalance.

What’s more, research has shown that the world we live in can exacerbate these imbalances. Indeed, growing levels of stress, environmental pollution, and standard supermarket diets have the potential to maximise our symptoms.

Estrogen and perimenopause

Estrogen our main sex hormone

Estrogen (along with progesterone and testosterone) is one of our main sex hormones. It drives things like our periods and fertility and it’s a big contributor to how our menopausal journey goes.

In many ways, it’s the hormone that defines our quality of life. As such, it’s sometimes referred to as the ‘little giant’ in our bodies. It’s behind our breast formation, womanly figures, bone strength, fat distribution and collagen production in the skin.

Estrogen is also essential to our heart, brain, oral and vaginal health.

During perimenopause estrogen levels begin to fluctuate wildly. At any one time they can be high or low as they begin the descent to the cessation of ovarian estrogen production. When this happens, though we still produce estrogen in our bodies the levels are reduced affecting all of the above.

With that in mind, let me tell you about EstroG-100™ – the estrogen balancing herbs we include in 40+ and 55+.

The EstroG-100™ in 40+ and 55+

When we’re talking about 40+ and 55+, the hormone-balancing ingredients we refer to are known as EstroG-100™. This is a collective term for a trio of herbs known as cynanchum wilfordii, phlomus umbrosa and angelica gigas nakai. More specifically we use extracts from their roots which have been used in Asia for over 400 years.

EstroG-100 herbs

A Korean doctor, Dr Jae Kim, discovered the three herbs, when used together, helped women through their menopausal journey from pre-menopause to post-menopause.

He undertook an extensive project to find if any safe, well-known herbs would help menopausal women. After testing 71 different species in different combinations he hit the jackpot with these three in the early 2000s. Since then, EstroG-100™ has been forging a trail through the women’s health market landing in Australasia just six years ago.

EstroG-100™ testing

Once Dr Kim identified the EstroG-100™ trio he put them through numerous tests with impressive results.

We have something called the Kupperman Index which measures women’s quality of life during menopause. And EstroG-100™ rated very well on the scale for improving side effects of pre-, peri and post-menopause including:

  • Hot flushes
  • Night sweats
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Sleeplessness
  • Insomnia
  • Mood swings
  • Headaches
  • Joint pain
  • Paresthesia (numbness in hands and feet)
  • Formication (an itchy feeling of bugs crawling under the skin)
  • Anxiety

EstroG-100™ has no side effects

EstroG-100™ achieved this without any adverse side effects such as weight gain, changes in blood sugar, cholesterol or blood pressure.

This is a valuable point because scientific studies have detected some adverse effects with some ingredients. These include black cohosh which has been associated with vaginal bleeding or spotting and liver damage (in a few cases). Some isoflavones too have a hormone-like action and aren’t advised for women who have had, or are at risk of, breast cancer.

HRT came under fire when the National Institute of Health (NIH) sponsored 8.5-year study with 16,000 subjects to estimate the benefits and risks of HRT. The study was terminated early at five years. This was because it showed increased risks of breast cancer (26%), CVD (22%), stroke (41%), coronary heart disease (29%), blood clots (100%), Alzheimer’s (100%).

More recently the study was pronounced flawed however many women prefer to avoid the medicalised route and choose natural options.

Interesting fact: cynanchum wilfordii and phlomus umbrosa are listed with the WHO (World Health Organisation) as liver protective.

Taking a closer look at the benefits of the EstroG-100™ in 40+ and 55+

Not only did EstroG-100™ rate well on the Kupperman Index it also showed some other significant benefits including with:

Vaginal Dryness

Many women have issues with vaginal dryness which can make sexual intercourse uncomfortable. The improvement from EstroG-100™ for vaginal dryness in studies was impressive.

Bone Mineral Density

Another result that was good news was that EstroG-100™ had a very positive effect on bone mineral density.

Breast Cancer

Scientific studies showed EstroG-100™ could actually inhibit estrogen-stimulated (hormone-dependent) mitogenesis in estrogen-dependent MCF-7 human breast cancer cells. This means it can be safely used by women who have been through or are at risk of breast cancer.

Skin Condition

One of the byproducts of using EstroG-100™ is an improvement to skin moisturisation, shine and plumpness.

In conclusion, when EstroG-100™ came about in the 2000s women found it had better efficacy than what they were using previously. In fact, 86 per cent of people experienced a decrease in menopausal symptoms as opposed to 38 per cent.

This is the time when menstruation is well and truly over, the ovaries have stopped producing high levels of sex hormones and for many ladies, perimenopause symptoms subside.

Estrogen has protective qualities and the diminished levels mean organs such as your brain, heart and bones become more vulnerable. It’s also a key lubricant so your lips may become drier, your joints less supple and your vagina might be drier. In addition, your thyroid, digestion, insulin, cortisol and weight may alter.

At this juncture, a woman might experience an increase in the signs of reduced estrogen but she should have a decrease of perimenopause symptoms. That said, some women will experience symptoms like hot flushes for years or even the rest of their lives.

Peri = ‘near’

Most females begin to experience the symptoms of perimenopause in their mid-forties. Your progesterone levels decline from your mid-30s but it’s generally from around 40 that the rest of your sex hormones begin to follow suit.

Perimenopause is a different experience for every woman and some women may barely notice it. The first indicators are usually changes to the monthly cycle. This means that for some ladies, this can be accompanied by things like sore breasts, mood swings, weight gain around the belly, and fatigue as time goes on.

For those with symptoms it can be a challenging time physically, mentally and emotionally.

Importantly, perimenopause lasts – on average – four to 10 years. The transition is usually a gradual process and many women enter perimenopause without realising.
