You’re in perimenopause or you’re post-menopause. Which should you take?

Let us explain 40+ and 55+.

They’re the two heroines we provide to help support you through perimenopause, post-menopause and beyond.

The numbers relate to age and you’ll see on the labels that 40+ is recommended for perimenopause and 55+ is recommended for post-menopause.

But here’s the thing. It really doesn’t matter if you want to take 40+ for the rest of your life or if you choose to take 55+ if you’re 40.

The hormone balancing trio of herbs – known as EstroG-100™ –  is the same in both formulations.

The EstroG-100™ in 40+ & 55+ 

EstroG-100™ is backed by science and has been through extensive testing to show that it helps to support our bodies in both perimenopause and post-menopause.

It forms the basis of both of our products and is made up of three herbal root extracts: Cynanchum wilfordii (Milkweed), Phlomis umbrosa (Jerusalem sage) and Angelica gigas nakai (Angelica).

What’s the difference between 40+ and 55+?


The 40+ formula contains EstroG-100™ only and works with our body’s metabolism to naturally balance estrogen.

Estrogen can go through massive highs and lows during the transition to post-menopause which is why we recommend 40+ for perimenopause.


We’ve added additional ingredients to 55+: Enzogenol®, marine magnesium and vitamin D3.

We did this because while EstroG-100™ takes care of hormonal balance from perimenopause through to post-menopause, a whole raft of other health issues can raise their head once we get through the transition.

Estrogen is a protectant to many parts of our bodies. For example, the lack of it post-menopause means our bones become less sturdy and we become vulnerable to osteoporosis. In addition, we become more at risk of heart disease, cognitive impairment and dementia. Plus estrogen gives us ‘juice’ keeping our joints lubricated and…yep…our vagina.

Many folk around the world are deficient in magnesium and vitamin D3. And that applies to all ages.

We took all of that into account when formulating 55+ and together Enzogenol®, marine magnesium and vitamin D3 support bone, heart, brain and eye health.

How long should we take 40+ or 55+ for?

They’re good friends for life. We’re women, so we often need hormone balancing. Someone in our community asked recently if they should discontinue using 55+ as they’d been in post-menopause for a while. The answer? This is the time when menstruation is well and truly over, the ovaries have stopped producing high levels of sex hormones and for many ladies, perimenopause symptoms subside.

Estrogen has protective qualities and the diminished levels mean organs such as your brain, heart and bones become more vulnerable. It’s also a key lubricant so your lips may become drier, your joints less supple and your vagina might be drier. In addition, your thyroid, digestion, insulin, cortisol and weight may alter.

At this juncture, a woman might experience an increase in the signs of reduced estrogen but she should have a decrease of perimenopause symptoms. That said, some women will experience symptoms like hot flushes for years or even the rest of their lives.


Peri = ‘near’

Most females begin to experience the symptoms of perimenopause in their mid-forties. Your progesterone levels decline from your mid-30s but it’s generally from around 40 that the rest of your sex hormones begin to follow suit. 

Perimenopause is a different experience for every woman and some women may barely notice it. The first indicators are usually changes to the monthly cycle. This means that for some ladies, this can be accompanied by things like sore breasts, mood swings, weight gain around the belly, and fatigue as time goes on.

For those with symptoms it can be a challenging time physically, mentally and emotionally.

Importantly, perimenopause lasts – on average – four to 10 years. The transition is usually a gradual process and many women enter perimenopause without realising.
