16 Signs You Need Shake It Off®

Eating-Healthy-Food

Heeeelllooo! 👋

Shake It Off® has evolved from the former 10-Day Reset into a comprehensive wellness system featuring Shake It Off® capsules alongside supporting lifestyle recommendations.

You’re here, which means you’re ready to feel like you again – and we couldn’t be happier to help with our Shake It Off® capsules + System.

So, let’s dive into hormones, what happens when they get a little out of kilter, and why Shake It Off® might just be your new best friend. (It’s mine!)

What are the Shake It Off® capsules + System and why should you care?

You can think of them as pressing ‘support’ for your weight, metabolism and metabolic health. Super-important. The truth is, they offer an evidence-backed means to making simple tweaks to your lifestyle and diet with the added support of Shake It Off® with Feiolix® capsules. They help support your blood sugar, feeling fuller for longer and metabolism.

And what’s even better? They work in synergy with Happy Go Tummy® – the perfect pair.

Weight gain, especially around the belly, during perimenopause and post-menopause is common. And insulin resistance, cravings, gut issues, fatigue, depression and mood swings can take centre stage.

But the good news? Shake It Off® helps. From the capsules to Shake It Off® + Happy Go Tummy® capsules to the entire System, it’s all designed to support you to love your body and feel good in your skin again.

Evidence-based lifestyle science

But seriously, while we love a little fun — we’re science geeks, too. Therefore, both the Shake It Off® capsules and System are built on evidence-based lifestyle science to help you tackle peri- and post-menopause weight changes and step up your metabolic health.

Because many women miss these key pieces of the peri- and post-menopause puzzle.

Indeed, there are a lot of moving parts to this time of life because your physiology is different to what it was when you were 30/35.

  • Hormonal changes start around age 35 (even if they’re subtle at first).
  • By the later stages of peri- or post-menopause, the signs often become impossible to ignore.
  • But 20% of women are completely unaffected – lucky things!

Here’s the deal: menopause and the lead-up to it (aka perimenopause) are natural phases, but they also come with changes that many of us weren’t prepared for. Hormones like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, thyroid and insulin shift; your liver works harder, your gut microbiome changes, you become more insulin resistant, and inflammation levels can creep up. Phew – it’s a lot.

But here’s the silver lining – targeted lifestyle changes can address these shifts head-on.

Think: balancing your blood sugar, loving your liver, and soothing stress and inflammation. All the tools your body needs to reset, release weight and thrive.

Why is hormone balance (and steady blood sugar) important?

A lot of people don’t like the term hormone balance, but let’s call it what it is – the opposite of hormonal chaos. The very thing we’re striving to stay away from.

What’s more, the most common women’s health concerns hinge on the intricate balance of:

Healthy-food-bowl
  • Hormones
  • Stress
  • Sleep
  • Blood sugar
  • Liver & gut health
  • Nutrient status & absorption
  • Energy

It’s all connected through your HPA-Thyroid and Ovaries axis:

  • Hypothalamus
  • Pituitary gland
  • Adrenals
  • Thyroid
  • Ovaries

Add in your central nervous system, and you’ve got the recipe for happy (or unhappy) hormones.

Yep, we know your biggest bugbear is weight, and Shake It Off® is all about that as well (because weight management requires a different strategy now). But it’s also designed to help you improve or prevent the five most common health concerns for women.

The 6 most common health concerns for women

womens-heart-health
  1. Heart disease
  2. Dementia
  3. Metabolic syndrome*
  4. Osteoporosis
  5. Depression
  6. Autoimmune disease

Because let’s face it – it’s not just about menopause; it’s about thriving as we grow older.

It’s not just about hormones

Peri and post-menopause involve your liver, gut, thyroid, adrenals and insulin (blood sugar), plus your heart, brain, and bones.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women, with dementia coming up neck and neck – so we’ve got to protect our hearts and brains ❤️.

And then there’s Inflammation. From perimenopause onwards, we go into a pro-inflammatory state.

Plus our mitochondria, organelles which are like little energy batteries within our cells, are affected by all of these changes too.

In fact: every single organ and cell in your body is ageing right along with you.

Key players

Key players in your peri & post-menopause health

The lovely liver

Your liver is your main detox organ, helping eliminate estrogens and toxins. But thanks to modern life, it’s often overworked and underperforming due to:

  • Saturated fats
  • Processed foods and UPFs (ultra-processed foods)
  • Alcohol
  • Stress
  • Over-exercising
  • Xenoestrogens and endocrine disrupting chemicals
  • Prescription medications
Liver detoxification

An overworked liver has trouble clearing ‘dirty’ or exogenous* estrogens effectively, leaving you with symptoms like bloat, fatigue, and weight gain. What’s more, it actually changes in size and composition so it needs even less loaders and more support.

*exogenous means estrogens from outside the body, such as xenoestrogens from plastics, personal care products and the environment, that mimic our body’s estrogen.

Your gut/digestive system

Your gut is your BFF during midlife. It’s foundational to a smoother peri/menopause and many roads lead back to it – mood, depression, weight, immunity.

However, perimenopause can cause:

  • Sluggish digestion
  • Thinning gut lining
  • Dysbiosis (microbial imbalance)
  • Leaky gut
  • Reduced stomach acid

Fun fact: A group of microbes called the estrobolome supports estrogen metabolism and regulation. So gut health equates to hormonal health too.

Insulin resistance/blood sugar

During menopause, women naturally become more insulin resistant. This means your body struggles to process glucose (blood sugar), which can lead to:

  • Belly fat
  • Fat accumulation in the liver
  • Weight gain
  • Risk of Type 2 diabetes and heart disease

Stabilising blood sugar with whole foods, protein, and exercise is key.

Inflammation

Sleeplessness due to menopause

Peri- and post-menopause bring a pro-inflammatory state, which exacerbates signs.

Poor sleep, stress, and dietary habits can magnify inflammation and lead to:

  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Chronic health issues

All of these reasons are why Shake It Off® focuses on an anti-inflammatory Mediterranean-style diet.

A note on cortisol/stress

Rounding all of this conversation out is cortisol, our stress hormone. Although, it sits high on the key players list.

Don’t get us wrong, cortisol gets us up in the morning and is a key part of our circadian rhythm, so we’re not here to demonise it.

But we do want it to reduce as the day goes on. And if it doesn’t, it prioritises survival so downplays digestion (and sex drive), can dump glucose into the blood (to help us run for our lives) and causes us to store fat that won’t budge.

In addition, our cortisol/stress levels naturally become higher during peri- and post-menopause due to changing sex hormones. It’s complicated and a subject for another day, but it’s something to be mindful of- self-care is non-negotiable. 🙂

Summer stress

So, let’s get to the good stuff…

…picture this: you wake up refreshed, your tummy feels flatter, your clothes are comfortable, you’ve got energy to burn, and those mood swings? Gone.

What can you expect from Shake It Off®?

Shake It Off® supports:

  • Tackle extra fat, especially visceral fat around the belly: release the fat that’s driving you up the wall.
  • Stable blood sugar: Say goodbye to blood sugar spikes (and perhaps even insulin resistance).
  • Improve your sleep: Deep, restful zzz’s are back on the table.
  • Minimise stress: feeling calmer, less inflamed and bloated.
  • Less hunger and fewer cravings. What a relief.
  • A sluggish liver & gut:  These two working optimally? Yes, please.
  • Boost your mood: Hello, calm and steady emotions.
  • Fire up your energy: Say goodbye to dragging yourself through the day.
  • Clear the brain fog: Clarity, focus, and sharp thinking? Yes, please.

Why Shake It Off® is a game-changer

In just eight weeks, you’ll be on the road to:

  • Ch-ch-changes: Implementing brand-new, life-changing habits.
  • Results: A looser waistband, better sleep, and improved energy.
  • Motivation: The spark you need to keep going.
  • Feeling healthier: a reduced vulnerability to metabolic syndrome, which is a cluster of issues such as heart disease, abdominal fat, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high triglycerides and lower ‘good’ cholesterol.
  • Reduced visceral fat: the type of fat that sits deeper in the abdomen and settles around the organs.

This is going somewhere good!

Post-menopause

This is the time when menstruation is well and truly over, the ovaries have stopped producing high levels of sex hormones and for many ladies, perimenopause symptoms subside.

Estrogen has protective qualities and the diminished levels mean organs such as your brain, heart and bones become more vulnerable. It’s also a key lubricant so your lips may become drier, your joints less supple and your vagina might be drier. In addition, your thyroid, digestion, insulin, cortisol and weight may alter.

At this juncture, a woman might experience an increase in the signs of reduced estrogen but she should have a decrease of perimenopause symptoms. That said, some women will experience symptoms like hot flushes for years or even the rest of their lives.

Perimenopause

Peri = ‘near’

Most females begin to experience the symptoms of perimenopause in their mid-forties. Your progesterone levels decline from your mid-30s but it’s generally from around 40 that the rest of your sex hormones begin to follow suit.

Perimenopause is a different experience for every woman and some women may barely notice it. The first indicators are usually changes to the monthly cycle. This means that for some ladies, this can be accompanied by things like sore breasts, mood swings, weight gain around the belly, and fatigue as time goes on.

For those with symptoms it can be a challenging time physically, mentally and emotionally.

Importantly, perimenopause lasts – on average – four to 10 years. The transition is usually a gradual process and many women enter perimenopause without realising.
